Narayana Murthy: The Man Who Made Infosys

Narayana Murthy was born on August 20, 1946, in Mysore to a ‘Kannada Madhwa Brahmin’ family. He has eight brothers and a sister.

Murthy’s father was a high school teacher and the fact that he had to take care of 10 children made the financial conditions difficult for him.

This left Narayana Murthy to attend a government school and he went on to pursue his B.E degree from the University of Mysore and later acquired his masters’ degree from IIT, Kanpur. He started his career as a chief system programmer at IIM Ahmedabad implementing the BASIC interpreter for ECIL (Electronics Corporation of India Limited). Then he moves to London and worked for three years in a company called SESA. Here he excelled in his career by designing a software to manage air-freight at the Charles de Gaulle terminal in Paris.safe_image (90)
